Five Course Meal🥄 🥄 🥄 🥄 🥄Charleston's cuisine is defined as “having a coastal location and soul food influence, with foods as rich in history as they are in flavor.” Recently, I had the opportunity to take on this famous food experience myself by going to one of the most unique and exquisite restaurants in South Carolina. Although it isn't defined as a restaurant, but instead a kitchen, R. Kitchen is located in Charleston, South Carolina. Recently, they also opened a new restaurant in West Ashley Charleston. R. Kitchen is such a popular restaurant you often have to book a reservation over a month in advance. The restaurant offers an intimate atmosphere seating only up to sixteen guests since you are quite literally sitting in the kitchen. Ross Webb is the head chef and owner and creates a welcoming atmosphere as he cooks up your dinner right in front of you. The five-course menu is changed every day to create the most personalized and fresh selection of food. I can't even begin to describe how reassuring it is to watch your farm to table food be prepared right in front of you. Our meal started off with a lobster and goat cheese soup which consisted of a lobster and goat cheese ball in goat cheese and shrimp broth. The sauce had a creamy texture with a rich after taste of goat cheese. I really loved the mix of texture with the broth and lobster ball because the lobster ball had a crunchier texture. The second dish was a burnt lettuce salad with bacon. An Iceberg head cut in half and grilled. Accompanied by a tomato, cheese, and bacon topping with a slice of baguette and a sweet ranch like sauce. The tomatoes gave the dish an acidic aftertaste. I really enjoyed the salad, although it was just a little difficult to cut through the lettuce. Our third dish was a lamb and rice cake. And if you're like me your first thought was probably “lamb?! Not my favorite.” But trust me, this was good! Shredded lamb mixed in with sauteed peppers and beans over a rice cake. And now on to my favorite dish. Our fourth course was a steak and hollandaise sauce. A medium rare steak with sauteed mushrooms and grilled asparagus.Which usually would be a pretty basic and straightforward meal. But it was topped off with hollandaise sauce and then flame grilled on top. No biggie, right? The only way I can truly describe this course is if you imagine a melody of steak, cheese, and mushrooms all exploding in your mouth like the fourth of July. THAT is what it tasted like. Leaving a rich seasoning of mushroom and cheese in your mouth. After these four PHENOMENAL dishes, we finished it off with a sweet dessert. The fifth course was homemade vanilla ice cream inside a homemade waffle cone topped off with fresh honey and chocolate shavings inside a chilled mason jar. Just thinking back to this meal makes my mouth water. If you ever get the chance to go to South Carolina PLEASE go to R. Kitchen. It beholds a once in a lifetime opportunity and forces you to explore your food palate with a welcoming atmosphere as if you're sitting in a friends kitchen while they make you dinner. The meal was very affordable compared to other high-end restaurants. Totaling thirty-five dollars per person for a five-course meal. I HIGHLY recommend R. Kitchen.

Actually El Cheapo the one dollar sign doesn’t just refer to the price but, how the price translates to what your getting. $35 for such a high quality five course meal is a very good deal. Therefore it deserves one dollar sign.
